After the hiking, Loren and I had a lunch in Hanalei.
Then, we rented a kayak! We paddled up Hanalei River.
(Japanese) ハイキングの後はハナレイという町でお昼ご飯を食べました。それからカヤックを借りました！そしてハナレイリバーを上流へ向けて少し漕ぎました。（40分ほどだけ）上流と言いましても、流れが緩やかなので上流へ向けて漕いでいても、下流へ漕いでいるのとそう変わりませんでした。

この青い丸をした川が、ハナレイ川です。
I felt a bit unsure about entering this beautiful, local taro patch area with a kayak. Although it is allowed by the kayak company, I felt a bit of going to someone's house without asking. So we did not stay long and came back. To me, there are so many things that I am curious about, so many things I want to see, and so many places I want to visit. However, I first need to harmonize myself with all of these things before I fulfill my wonder.
この美しい、地元のタロパッチの中に入っていくのに少し躊躇しました。いくらカヤックをレンタルする会社が許していても、何となく誰かの家に断りなしにおじゃまするような感じがしました。なので長居せずにすぐに戻ってきました。私にとって、この世の中には知りたいこと、見たいもの、行きたいところが沢山あるけど、それらは私が知りたいこと、見たいもの、行きたいところと調和してこそ成し遂げられるものだと思った日でありました。

ユーターンして下流へ向けて漕ぎ出したところ。
After we got out to the ocean, we found these beautiful waves. These waves were so perfect to ride, and Loren and I decided to try to surf with our kayak!
海に出ますと、写真ではよく見えませんが美しい波を見つけました！この波はマウイでは滅多に見ない、長くてきれいな形の波でした。私たちはカヤックでこれらの波に乗ってみることにしました。

Well, our waves were smaller than this. It was really fun and thrilling. Teamwork was the key since the kayak was a tandem kayak. Loren did the steering and I paddled. We got turned over a couple of times, but the feeling of dropping in was a bit different from one when we surf with a surf board. We abandoned ourselves to this activity for awhile.
いや、こんな大きな波には乗ってないけどね。でもかなりスリリングで楽しかったです。二人乗りのカヤックですからチームワークが鍵でした。ローレンが後ろに乗っていたので舵取り。私はひたすら漕ぎました。何度か転覆もしましたけど、あのドロップインする感じは普通にサーフィンしているときとまた違った感覚で二人で大興奮でした。
