A New Kettle 新しい湯沸し（やかん）

This late afternoon, I went to Mana Foods in Paia, my favorite place to do a grocery shopping.

Then, I found this kettle. Because it got a scar on the lid, it was 50% off! It was only $9. I did not own one since I came to Maui (although it's been 5 years), so I was kind of thinking to buy one eventually, but I could boil water by using a pan. A kettle was not super necessary, and I wanted to keep my belongings to minimum, so I was not seriously looking for one.

Well, today, it came to me. It was placed where I usually do not look at, and this kettle was sitting there alone. I liked its simplicity and color, so I decided to get it for myself as a gift :)

夕方にパイアという町にある大好きなMana Foods（マナフーズ）という地元のスーパーに食材を買いに行きました。（マナはハワイ語で、日本語で言うと、エネルギーに近いかな？）

そこで私はこのやかんに出会ってしまいました。蓋に傷が付いているため半額で売られておりました。9ドル（日本円で言うと1000円くらいかな）でした。（傷もデザインの一部に見ようと思えば見える気がする・・・。今度白い修正液で目を描き入れようかな。だるまさんみたいに。何かいいことあったらしよう。）マウイに来てから自分のやかんを持っていなかったので（五年も経つというのに）いつかは買おうとは思っていました。でもお鍋でお湯は沸かせるし、所有物を必要最小限に留めておきたかったので、真剣に買うつもりで探してはいませんでした。

でも今日、私はこのやかんに出会ってしまたったのです。普段は見ない棚の一番上に置かれておりました。そしてこのやかんだけが一つぽつんとあったのでした。そのシンプルさと色が気に入って、自分へのプレゼントとして買うことにしました。えへへのへ。
