Recently, the United States Postal Services (USPS) featured characters in the famous movie, "Star Wars" on their new stamp design. I like Star Wars, but I have not watched all the episodes yet, so I don't know the story as well as like Loren and my dad do. They are huge fans of Star Wars. I think that USPS did a beautiful job on these stamps. I enjoy using them although they are a little big and take up a lot of space on a small envelop. For Star Wars fan in Japan, this stamp might be very attractive..?
Well, the costs of stamps are going up. It's now 41 cents to send a mail anywhere in the U.S. It used to be 34 cents when I first came here (five years ago).
The price of food is also going up... My favorite summer roll at Down to Earth is now $2.49 each where as it used to $1.99. Oh well, we got to live with what we got.

最近、アメリカの郵便局があの有名な映画、「Star Wars」に出てくるキャラクターを新しい切手のデザインに採用しました。私もStar Wars好きです。でも全部のエピソードを観ていないので、ローレンや私の父ほど話に通じていません。（彼らは大ファンです。私の父はヨーダの人形まで持っています。Book Offで（Book Offというところがポイントですが）嬉しそうに買っている父を、母は止めれなかったそうです。むしろ買ってあげたらしい。何であれ人生を謳歌してくれている両親を見る以上に嬉しいことはありません。）切手はなかなかの仕上がりだと思います。ちょっと普通の切手より大きいので小さな封筒に貼る場合は場所を取りますが、Star Warsなので許されます。日本のスターウォーズファンの方にとっては魅力的な切手なのかな？
切手のお値段が上がっていっています。今は一つの封筒を送るのに（アメリカは国内なら距離に関係なく均一の値段で）41セントです。私が来たときは（５年前）34セントだったのに。
ご飯の値段も上がっていっています。ダウン・トゥ・アースのお気に入りのサマーロールは一つ$1.99だったのが$2.49になりました。まぁ、不満を言っていても仕方ありませんからあるもので有難く生活していきます。
