(Beautiful Yukata worn by beautiful mannequins displayed at the Kyoto station; but I wonder why the mannequins do not like Japanese women. There are many tourists visiting Kyoto from all over the world, so are they trying to tell foreigners that they can also wear Yukata?)
I stayed one night at my friend K's place in Kyoto.
The next morning, we left the house together and got the same bus. K had to got to work, and I had to go to Kyoto station.
In the bus, I saw the scenery that she sees every morning.
Visiting my friends always helps me to understand them better. Seeing where they live, meeting their friends, and experiencing what they do everyday is an effective way to get to know the person even more. I think that's why I love visiting my friends all over the world.
After I said good bye to K, I went to JR Kyoto station to see my friend N. I also met her on Maui about four years ago. Since then, we have been nurturing our friendship. She loves to dance (especially hula). She even visited me in Kochi to dance Yosakoi with us. She inspires me by the way she pursues her dream and passion. She is very pure, and her beautiful heart makes me believe that anything is possible.
We sat in a cafe by the Kyoto station and talked for about two hours. We had not seen each other for almost three years, so there were a lot to catch up. Even though we had not seen each other that long, I felt like I saw her last week. I think that friends are like that. Time passed by so quickly, and I had to leave.
Some friends contacted me after they found out from this blog that I am in Japan now. I cannot help to express my gratitude for them expressing their interest in seeing me. I would love to see each one of you if I could. For this time, I am going to focus on seeing my friends who live in Kansai area (around Osaka) since I landed at Kansai International Airport. Next time when I land in Tokyo International Airport, I will make effort to see all of you who live in Kanto area (around Tokyo). It's so wonderful to have friends all over Japan, and I am very much appreciative that I have such great friends who are always caring about me.

(とても素敵な浴衣がきれいなマネキンに着られ、京都駅のデパートのウインドウにディスプレイされていました。でもマネキンさんたちが日本人じゃないのはなぜかしらねぇ？京都には沢山の方が海外から訪れるから日本人じゃなくても浴衣を着ませんか？ってアプローチをしているのかしら？）
友達のKのおうちに一泊させてもらった翌日は、Kが仕事に行くと同時に家を一緒に出て、次の目的地へ向けて同じバスに乗り込みました。バスに乗りながら流れていく景色を見て、「この景色をKは毎朝見てるのね」なんて思いました。友達を訪れることによって、その友達をもっと知ることが出来ます。住んでいるところへ実際に行ってその土地に触れ、家族に会い、そして普段の生活を垣間見ることによって、その友達を包括的に知ることが出来ます。そして知れば知るほど、その友達を大切に思えますし、関係がより強められます。そして何よりただ純粋にバーチャルな世界ではなく実際に触れられる距離で会えるのは嬉しいです。
Kと名残惜しくもバイバイをしてから、JR京都駅に向かいました。友達のNに会うためです。NとはKと同じようにマウイで会いました。4年くらい前かな。それから私たちは大切に友情を築いてきました。彼女は踊ることが大好きです。（特にフラダンスが。）3年ほど前には高知まで来てくれて一緒によさこいを踊りました。彼女の夢とパッションを追い続ける姿勢に私はいつも励まされています。とても純粋で、彼女の透き通った湖面のように美しい心は、何も不可能なことはないと思わしてくれます。
京都駅の近くのカフェで2時間ほど話をしました。もう長年会っていない私達は沢山話すことがありました。でも長年会っていないのに先週会ったように感じました。友達ってそんなもんですよね。時間はあっという間に過ぎてしまい、次の目的地へ出る時間に。
（京都駅の伊勢丹の７階にある美術館「えき」KYOTOでハワイの風景を撮った三好和義さんという写真家の方の写真展が今月22日まで行われていますので、お時間がありましたら是非行ってみてください。ハワイの空気に触れられますよ。）
このブログを見て私が日本に帰ってきていることを知った友達が連絡をくれました。皆さんの会いたいと言ってくれる気持ちを有難く思わずにはいられません。皆さん一人一人に是非お会いしたのですが、突然の帰国だったことと、また時間の都合上、前回12月に帰国したときは関東エリアの友達に会いましたように、この度は関西国際空港に降り立ちましたので、関西地域の友達に会うことに専念したいと思います。次回帰ってくるときは成田国際空港に降りますので、そのときには関東エリア、それから東北エリアの友達とも会いたいです。それにしても全国に私のことを心から気に掛けてくれる友達がいるというのは本当に有難いことです。本当にありがとうございます。
